if there are no dogs in heaven I write the books, drawing is looking leather doesn't forgive not all those who wander pilgrim home

Leather doesn't forgive you any mistake.

At the school for technical education in Waalwijk I taught physics to a class of student shoemakers.
I often walked into the section where they had their practice and discovered the beautiful things they were making with leather.
Years later, when I needed an arm guard and an arrow quiver for archery, I decided to make them myself.
Along with archery, I now had two new hobbies!
Leather is a strict teacher, though; the material never forgives you a mistake.
It took me at least half a cow's skin before I could reasonably master the art of leather working.
