Skye

A week seakayakking along the northern shores of Skye.

18.07 - 22.07 2004

A selection of the photos I made on our trip along the north of the Isle of Skye. These pictures have a low resolution (128 x 192 pixels 24 bits).

Move mouse over picture!

Starting in Portree on a rainy and wind-swept morning

Martin, the ornithologic seakayakker, photographer, philosopher...... Our lovely chaotic camper!

This year was the only time we were envious of Rick's dry-suit!

Axel, on of the best sea-coaches!

I never leave for sea without my Australian bushhat.

A lot of interesting caves to visit on northern Skye.

Maarten. I don't think I like paddling without my eldest son.....

The campingsite Martin discovered. There he even found a golf ball.

Hardly any wind in these narrow passages.

And another cave to explore!

A beautiful isle and a lot of wind.

Rick Carrick Smith, a nice guy to paddle and drink a whisky with...

Marie-Louise thinks she always looks stern on pictures. So?

Axel climbed on the back of his kayak and came up with a bottle of Talisker!

You feel pretty small in a seakayak unter these shores.

Showers are becoming rain and the wind is freshing.

Digging for a meal......

It's wet and cold outside!

Towards Rubha Hunish, the most northern point of Skye.

Caught two photographers at Duntulm Castle.

A nice slipway, a level place to put your tent on, an hospitable farmer. What more do you want?

And then there was this piece of yellow, not very big, perhaps 30 feet: sandy beach!

The harbour of Uig. We did enough paddling for this week!

Now we have to pay for putting up a tent, but there are hot showers and normal toilets!!!!
